'The yips’ is a psychoneuromuscular impediment affecting sportspersons. Yips symptoms include jerks, tremors, staggers and freezing, and may cause performance problems. The condition can occur suddenly and without apparent explanation - usually in mature athletes with years of experience, especially those whose sports skills require them to perform a single precise and well-timed action, such as golf and darts. (Estimates are that around 30% of professional golfers may be affected at some stage of their career)
'Yips' is poorly understood and has no known treatment or therapy.
