Linear Elamite

So far, 22 examples of Linear Elamite texts have been found. The writings form part of a Bronze Age system used in Elam (now part of modern-day Iran). It appears to have been in use for a brief period during the last quarter of the 3rd millennium BC. It was written either from left to right or from right to left.

Although some 'bilingual' examples have been found, the writing system remains to a large degree undeciphered.

There are also problems in exactly categorising examples :

One fundamental problem in defining the corpus of texts and consequently what is to be considered Linear Elamite is the necessity of identifying two or three analogous but different Linear Elamite scripts and of investigating their genesis and the relations among them.
