Editing articles

Note: Editing and creation of articles is currently restricted to registered users. See 'Notes for Contributors' in the 'Utilities' section of the main menu.

Once you're logged in, a grey floating 'Tool' menu at the right hand side of the screen enables access to all the main 'Content' articles for editing. (Note: Some pages, such as the site info etc. are locked)

Like most Wikis, the site doesn't use HTML for formatting (security reasons etc). The special syntax is very comprehensive (a guide can be found hereplugin-autotooltip__plain plugin-autotooltip_bigFormatting Syntax

New articles

The best way to create a new article is to use the 'Create a new article' link (at the top of every page, for logged-in users) That way you can easily choose which category to create the new article in.

Sandbox testing

Rating articles

It's possible to add an Importance Ratingplugin-autotooltip__plain plugin-autotooltip_bigImportance ratings

Wikenigma assigns 'Importance Ratings' to some pages.

The idea is to separate articles which are considered (by the editors) to cover exceptionally important unknown issues from those which (although also unknown) are probably not so important. For example, the fact that no-one knows how
for the content, like this w-stars.jpg which appears at the top of the page. The idea is to distinguish exceptionally enigmatic and important items from minor ones - see top of this page as an example.

(Note: You need to use the original 'Syntax Editor' to do this.)

Note re. images

At present, only users who have been given 'Editor' status can upload images.

The green 'Open Access' icon open access denotes that the entire reference is fully open for all readers.

Note re. Firefox

For reasons yet to be clarified, modern versions of the Firefox browser are substantially under-performing when using spellchecking whilst editing pages. The only workaround found so far is to use a different browser - or an old version of Firefox.

Languages

Please note that the 'original' contents of each page are currently restricted to being written and edited in English only.
