====== Human earlobes ====== '' Note : This article is currently in the 'Proposed Content' section'' Human earlobes appear to be an evolutionary redundant artifact. They have no known function. They may have had some use in the past, and are now 'vestigial' - like the appendix. Or, they may just be a genetic anomaly which didn't predjudice an individual's survival, and so remained in the gene pool. It //is //known that genetic changes can affect the earlobe shape - some being more 'attached' to the side of the face. But the reasons why they evolved at all are unknown. (Note: It is commonly suggested that 'creased' earlobes are a sign of various diseases. But to date, no study has successfully proven this to be the case.) [ ref. needed ]
